Last month we crowned Jlin’s Planet Mu-released debut album, Dark Energy, our favourite album of 2015 owing to its forward-thinking, inventive approach to footwork, a genre already rooted in ripping up any kind of rule book. Following her debut live show at Unsound Festival late last year, the producer is now set to come to the UK from her hometown of Gary, Indiana for her first ever UK live shows.
Kicking off at the Exchange in Bristol this Saturday (February 6), Jlin will play with support from Roly Porter who just released his new album via Tri Angle. You can get tickets for that show here. Jlin will then play London’s Corsica Studios on February 10 with support from the Quietus DJs and you can get tickets for that show here right now.
Writing about her debut live set at Unsound, tQ’s Rory Gibb said: "Corralling music into beat structures for the floor only reduces its possibilities if it’s done as a default choice; her work conclusively torpedoes the notion that contemporary dance music lacks the capacity to innovate and surprise." Now’s your chance to check that out for yourself.
