Earlier this month, former Bronski Beat and Communards man Jimmy Somerville released Homage, his ninth studio album and one which drew on a lifelong love of disco. "Everything I have ever done has been to get to a club in order to dance," he told tQ’s John Freeman in our interview. "Looking back at the history of the politics of disco, it was about gay men, black men and also women having an uplifting celebration in the face of adversity and discrimination. While it is easy to dismiss disco as a throwaway genre – stuff like the Bee Gees and Saturday Night Fever – it is actually about a whole movement of emancipated people seeking liberation."
Now, ahead of a run of live dates beginning in June – head to Somerville’s website for full details – we’ve been given a first look at the video for ‘Some Wonder’. Give it a play above and head over to Cherry Red Records to get hold of the album.
