Jim Reid Talks New Jesus & Mary Chain LP

Jim Reid has given an update on the next album from The Jesus And Mary Chain in a new interview

The Jesus And Mary Chain’s Jim Reid has said that the band will begin recording their next album following their upcoming US tour with Nine Inch Nails.

In an interview with WFPK’s Kyle Meredith for Consequence Of Sound, Jim Reid reveals that Nine Inch Nails personally invited the group to join them on their upcoming 26-date North American tour which runs from September into December.

"As far as anyone’s concerned, it’ll be songs that they haven’t heard before," Reid says of the new album plans. "It won’t be songs that we’ve released before but there will be some new songs and some that have been knocking about for a while.

"You work well with a deadline because we’re the laziest people you can imagine," he continues. "We kind of always put these things off as long as we can and we get to a point where we say ‘let’s have an album recorded within six months from now."

The new album will be The Jesus And Mary Chain’s first since their post-reunion record, Damage And Joy, which was released last year.

Later in the interview, Reid also discusses the anniversary of their last pre-breakup album, 1998’s Munki and the way that was affected by the group’s relationships at that point.
