LISTEN: Jim Jones’ New Band!

Rock & roll rises from the ashes once more!

Jim Jones is back with the first track from his new band, Jim Jones And The Righteous Mind. A little over six months after The Jim Jones Revue called it a day on their Last Hurrah tour the singer/guitarist has put together a new cast to perform as The Righteous Mind.

The group is made up of former Revue member Gavin Jay on bass and new additions Joe Glossop, Phil Martini and David Page. As his previous band came to what they viewed as a natural conclusion, Jones told the Quietus he was "ready to do something different", and he certainly wasted no time. Just five days after the Revue’s final show at the Kentish Town Forum Jones and his new group were in the studio, planning for their latest endeavour. Their first release comes in the form of ‘1,000 Miles From The Sure’, which you can listen to and watch a video for above.

The new group take their name from a 2012 psychology book by Jonathan Haidt, in which the author argues that good people are divided by religion and politics. The band will make their live debut next month, with a tour around France seeing them perform five dates from St Etienne to Audincourt.

MAY:

23rd – Avaterium Festival, St Etienne

24th – Café Charbonne, Nevers

26th – Open Air, Bordeaux

28th – Montpellier

30th – Moloco, Audincourt
