Jehnny Beth And Bobby Gillespie Reveal Collaborative Album

'Utopian Ashes' is out in July

Savages’ Jehnny Beth and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie are releasing a collaborative album.

Utopian Ashes, which is out in July, marks the first time the pair have come together on record, having first met in 2015 when they performed with Suicide at the Barbican. The album also features Beth’s frequent collaborator Johnny Hostile (on bass), as well as Primal Scream trio Andrew Innes (guitar), Martin Duffy (piano) and Darrin Mooney (drums). You can watch a video for lead track ‘Remember We Were Lovers’ above.

The LP is said to be inspired by classic country soul duets. "In the same way you create characters for a novel, we’ve created characters here," Beth says in a press release. "But you put yourself in it, because you’re trying to understand the human situation. The singing has to be authentic. That’s all that matters."

Third Man will release Utopian Ashes on July 2, 2021.
