Jeff Tweedy Pays Tribute To Jay Bennett

Former Wilco bandmate remembered

Jeff Tweedy has paid tribute to former Wilco bandmate Jay Bennett, who died at the weekend. He was 45.

Writing on Wilco’s website, Tweedy says, "We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy. We will miss Jay as we remember him – as a truly unique and gifted human being and one who made welcome and significant contributions to the band’s songs and evolution.

"Our thoughts go out to his family and friends in this very difficult time."

No cause of death has yet been revealed, though one of Bennett’s family apparently said he died in his sleep on Sunday morning.
