Jason Pierce Turned Down Spacemen 3 Reunion

He was offered £2 million, he says

Jason Pierce has revealed that he turned down an offer of £2 million to reunite his former Spacemen 3 outfit.

Pierce made the revelation in an interview with The Independent where he also speaks about upcoming plans for a new Spiritualized album. "It’s a ton of money," he says in relation to the offer made to reunite Spacemen 3. "But I think it’s too important for that, I really do. It’s been my life’s work to wave my small flag to show how important rock ‘n’ roll is. You can buy those records if you want to hear the music."

Pierce also suggests that the next album from Spiritualized could be the last from the project. "In a weird way, I think it’s my last record," he says. "I’ve already covered so much ground and already done a load of ideas. There’s no point doing something unless it’s better than that." He believes that the album, the eighth from Spiritualized, will be the "equal if not better than Ladies and Gentlemen, referring to the 1998 album that was performed in full at the Barbican earlier this week.
