Quietus hero Jarvis Cocker and controversial comedian Russell Brand are on course for one of the most bizarre musical collaborations of the year.
Cocker has written three songs for Brand to sing in his new film Get Him To The Greek, the sequel to 2008’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in which the comedian plays a pretentious rock star.
It’s good to hear, however, that the former Pulp frontman isn’t planning on wasting his best material on Brand after he told Bilbboard that the songs were "very silly, but it’s a very silly film".
Cocker, who makes his own film debut this year when he stars in Wes Anderson’s animated version of Fantastic Mr Fox, also gave a cagey response when asked about a possible Pulp reunion.
He quipped: "I better decide for sure pretty soon because otherwise, I’ll be too old". Fingers crossed for a reformation somewhere down the road, then…
