Jane Weaver Releases New Single, ‘Oblique Fantasy’

It marks the 40th instalment in Speedy Wunderground's singles series

Jane Weaver has unveiled a brand new track called ‘Oblique Fantasy’.

Out now, the song marks the 40th instalment in UK label Speedy Wunderground’s singles series, which has previously included music from the likes of black midi, Squid and Black Country, New Road. ‘Oblique Fantasy’, which you can listen to above, marks Weaver’s first new music since last year’s Flock LP. It’s also the first song in Speedy Wunderground’s singles series not to be recorded in label head Dan Carey’s home studio, having been recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

Speaking about how the track came together, Weaver said: "I was invited to Abbey Road to record as one of their Lock-In Sessions, so asked Dan to be involved. I’ve always admired Dan’s production style – it’s really exciting and dynamic, most records I like these days have his name on them, and for ages I’ve been keen to have a look around his studio and explore the possibilities to do something creative together. We wrote the song at Dan’s place and then recorded most of it at Abbey Road, Studio 3. Having to turn it around, write and record a song from scratch within 24 hours was really exciting as we’d never worked together before, but I knew we shared a joy for certain sounds and equipment – and in true Speedy style it happened pretty quickly."

‘Oblique Fantasy’ is out now on Speedy Wunderground.
