This Sunday (October 23), Church Of Sound will be hosting another session at St James the Great Church in Clapton, this time with a headline performance by James Holden and Camilo Tirado, who will be presenting their last ever performance of Outdoor Museum of Fractals.
They will be joined on the bill by LSO Community Gamelan, Ex-Easter Island Head and a DJ set from Cherrystones. The bill has been stylised around polyrhythms, counterpoints and New Age ambience.
Holden and Tirado created their piece, Outdoor Museum of Fractals, in response to briefing from the Barbican and Muziekgebouw in celebration of the 80th birthday of Terry Riley. The work is comparative to Terry Riley’s In C in minimalist structure and works as a contemporary take on the composition style.
Also featuring are LSO Community Gamelan, the UK’s leading group for the Indonesian traditional dance music of gamelan. The performance will be played out on a gamelan angklung, tuned to a 4-tone scale which is common to traditional rituals and ceremonies.
Continuing the minimalist theme set by Holden and Tirado, Ex-Easter Island Head will be presenting an arrangement based on percussion and prepared electric guitars.
Tickets are available via Party For The People. Doors open at 7pm and the event finishes at midnight.
