The normally prolific James Ferraro, who has just released his only full-length this year Far Side Virtual, has remixed fuzzy London pop band Trailer Trash Tracys. Far from the ultra polished digital surfaces of his new material, though, his take on ‘Engelhardt’s Arizona’ is closer to his older CDr material: a dilapidated, degraded and rather relaxing listen. Burn some incense and have a three minute lie down while you listen.
Engelhardt’s Arizona (James Ferraro Remix) by DominoRecordCoThe original ‘Engelhardt’s Arizona’ is taken from Trailer Trash Tracys double A-side 7", which also features ‘Wish You Were Red’.
Read our review of Ferraro’s new album here. We said: "Far Side Virtual might have ditched the tape hiss and joss sticks, along with the dreamstate references to 80s pop culture that earned Ferraro column inches in Wire‘s first missive on the now well-worn ‘hypnagogic pop’ concept. But the intent remains intact, this time directed at the glossy hyperreality of the online world. Its sixteen tracks arrive as unbroken, bracingly synthetic rushes of arpeggiated notes, pointedly digital and peppered with Windows ident soundbites and Sim City/Second Life voice snippets."
