Jacken Elswyth, part of Shovel Dance Collective, has shared details of a new album, At Fargrounds.
The London-based folk musician’s third solo album is her first for UK label Wrong Speed, and aims to reposition the sound of the banjo away from being a signifier of the past, and more towards something new and experimental. The record is entirely instrumental, and takes in 12 tracks, with eight of them being reworks of traditional tracks and the other four being live improvisations.
To mark the album’s announcement, Elswyth and Wrong Speed have shared a video for ‘Sussex Waltz’, which appears at the record’s halfway mark. You can watch it above.
