Tom Jones is the latest musician to collaborate with Jack White, according to MOJO. In a Q&A session with the magazine, White revealed that Jones is the latest musician to take part in the Blue Series of singles released through White’s label, Third Man Records.
White explained that the Welsh crooner, who recorded a version of his own ‘Jezebel’ as well as a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Evil’ at the Third Man studio in Nashville, "impressed the shit out of everybody". However, he gave no inkling of when the tracks might be released.
Jones follows in the footsteps of other musicians, such as Stephen Colbert and the Insane Clown Posse, who have already collaborated with White as part of the Blue Series. The former White Stripe has also teamed up with Jay-Z and Kid Congo Powers in recent years.
White also told MOJO that Third Man Records will reissue records by artists such as Blind Willie McTell, Charley Patton and the Mississippi Sheiks on high-quality vinyl in conjunction with blues label Document Records. The LPs are set for release early this year.
