Jack White’s Third Man Records is opening a record shop in London’s Soho next month.
With planning for the store having taken place throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the label is opening the shop with the aim to set up a physical space to support record sales and live performances as we emerge out of the pandemic. It will feature a two-level retail space, as well as a live music venue named The Blue Basement. The store will also act as the European headquarters for Third Man Records, and becomes the label’s third retail space after previously opened stores in Nashville and Detroit.
To mark the shop’s launch, a number of artists – including The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Raincoats’ Gina Birch and Cornershop – have been invited to contribute something brand new or previously unheard to a series of vinyl releases, which will be made available from the Third Man webstore, as well as the label’s three retail stores, from September 25. The London shop will launch on the same date, and will be located at 1 Marshall Street, W1 9BA, London.
