Jack White releases his debut solo album Blunderbuss on Monday 23rd April. If you fancy a sneak preview the album is now streaming on iTunes here.
A blunderbuss is a muzzle-loading firearm, popularly the weapon of highwaymen and coach guards in days of yore. The name comes from the Dutch word ‘Donderbus’, which literally means thunder pipe. So is this a thunderous independent triumph for Mr. White or is it another frontman-goes-solo vanity project; a giant effulgence from his very-own thunderpipe.
Speaking of the album White said, "These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colours on my own canvas." Back in March Julian Marszalek gave us this track-by-track analysis of the album.
White, who tours the UK in June, has added an extra date to his schedule. He will be playing a gig at the HMV Forum on Monday 23rd April – the same day that the album is released. He will also be appearing on Later… With Jools Holland on Tuesday 24th April.
