Iron Maiden are to release a new live film and double soundtrack album entitled EN VIVO!. It will be released in double DVD, Blu-Ray and 2CD live album formats on March 26th,
It was filmed on 10th April last year in Santiago, Chile, during their ‘The Final Frontier’ world tour, and looks set to capture something of the energy and bombast of a Maiden live show – as well as featuring a brand new version of band mascot Eddie.
"He wasn’t due to make his appearance until our European leg of the tour later in 2011," said bassist and founder member Steve Harris, "but we managed to transport him across the sea in a special huge container just in time for the latter end of the South American dates so it was great we were able to immortalize him for the DVD as he really has to be seen to be believed.”
For the live film, the gig was captured using 22 HD cameras and a flying octocam above the crowd, recorded both in stereo and 5.1 surround sound, and mixed by Kevin Shirley, Iron Maiden’s long-term producer. The second disc contains an 88-minute documentary entitled Behind The Beast. Filmed by Maiden’s road crew, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day running of their tour, and brings together interviews and anecdotes from the crew and band with footage of live shows from across the tour.
