Joint project between Eluvium's Matthew Cooper and Mark T. Smith of Explosions In The Sky reveal second track from upcoming second album

Inventions, the collaborative project of Eluvium’s Matthew Cooper and Explosions In The Sky’s Mark T. Smith, are currently prepping the release of their second album, Maze Of Woods, via Bella Union, due next month. With the video for lead track ‘Springworlds’ premiered already (you can watch it at the foot of this story), tQ is happy to offer you the first stream for album track ‘Peregrine’, above.

Continuing in the vein of ‘Springworlds’, ‘Peregrine’ is a sprawling, largely ambient piece underpinned by the respective talents of both Cooper and Smith. Maze Of Woods, the successor to the pair’s debut self-titled album released last year, was mixed in the same house on the Oregon coastline as that used for their first album, with final mixing and production all done by the duo themselves. They have stated that much of the inspiration for the LP comes from the closing paragraph of Denis Johnson’s novella Train Dreams with the album’s opening vocal sample of "I wanted to do something that I don’t know how to do" put forward as the pair’s mission statement with this second album. Maze Of Woods is released on March 16 and you can pre-order it here.
