LISTEN: New International Teachers Of Pop

The Moonlandingz' Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer have a new project called International Teachers Of Pop who will release their debut album next year

International Teachers of Pop have announced a self-titled debut album. Above, you can hear ‘Brick in the Wall’, a cover of Pink Floyd sung in German, which the group have shared as a free download.

International Teachers of Pop formed at the start of the year when The Moonlandingz’ Adrian Flanagan and Dean Honer enlisted singer Leonore Wheatley to join them. Curiously, this meeting took place at a ‘Circuit Bending Workshop’ in South Yorkshire.

They’ve since been working on a wealth of music together and have performed some live shows to showcase this early material, much of which is going into their debut album, which will be released on February 8.

"I think it’s the third most important outsider pop album to come out of Sheffield since Dare and Different Class," says Flanagan of the band’s debut. "Sheffield has a great history of drawing out these awkward, gangly weirdoes that make a very British, nay eccentric, kind of pop music that stews in the underground for a few years then appears seemingly from nowhere fully formed, like a very peculiar butterfly."

The band will follow the album’s release with a UK tour through February, and you can find the full list of dates here where you can also find a handy pre-order link for the album.

Last month saw them share an alternate mix of their recent single ‘After Dark’, which you can check here.
