LISTEN: International Teachers Of Pop De-Mixed By Marta Salogni

Kicking off their must-see tour tonight in London, International Teachers of Pop have shared a stunning Marta Salogni de-mix of 'After Dark'

Ahead of their debut headline tour, starting tonight at London’s Moth Club, The International Teachers Of Pop have released a remix of their recent single ‘After Dark’ by close friend and collaborator Marta Salogni.

Termed a ‘de-mix’, the haunting track samples sounds from old tapes, alternating between soaring vocals and staccato rhythms. Take a listen above.

Salogni explains: “This remix is made entirely with my Revox tape machine, using different speeds to achieve time and pitch changes, overlaying vocals to find harmonies, overlapping drums to find polyrhythms.”

The ‘de-mix’ is not Salogni’s first collaboration with International Teachers Of Pop. Earlier this year, she played synths for their performance in support of Roisin Murphy at Somerset House.

Adrian Flanagan, co-founder and songwriter of International Teachers Of Pop and The Moonlandingz, recalls an eccentric vocal recording session for the latter’s debut album, Interplanetary Class Classics, which Salogni worked on: “Lias and I rocked up to this studio in London with the Cowboy from the Village People, Mr. Randy Jones. He started to sing some broadway show tune and he actually had this really incredible voice.

“Lias and I started teaching him the song parts, getting him singing and to hold the last note of the last line of the song for over a minute till he looked like he might pass out… all the while, Marta is just sat there cool as a cucumber letting the madness unfold and recording it. We got everything down in an hour; Marta and I kept in touch and keep threatening to do a project together.”
