Last Shop Standing, a new film about independent record shops, will be released in selected cinemas across the country and on DVD on September 10.
The film, which takes its name from the book of the same name by Graham Jones, looks into why nearly 2000 record shops have disappeared across the UK.
However, last year vinyl sales saw a dramatic rise of 39% from 2010, through events like Record Store Day and massive artist support. Against this backdrop, the documentary explores the lasting appeal of vinyl in the digital age and charts their history from the 1960s onwards.
Johnny Marr, Billy Bragg, Norman Cook and Paul Weller are all interviewed, talking about unlikely record shop findings and explaining why the vinyl industry is something to be supported, along with contributions from the owners and staff of 28 record shops across the country.
