Hot off the heels of their first batch of names just two weeks ago the always excellent Incubate Festival has added a further 22 new artists to its bill, with a particular emphasis on jazz and non-Western music in this latest lineup announcement.
The festival, which takes place in over 20 venues in the Dutch city of Tilburg between September 14-20, will host over 300 names with major acts already announced including Cabaret Voltaire, Mercury Rev + Orchestra and tQ faves Perc & Truss. Add to that the likes of Dead Neanderthals, Sly & The Family Drone, Sylvain Chauveau, Fire!, Alexander Rishaug and a Golden Antenna label night and you have quite the heavyweight lineup.
Incubate’s artistic director, Vincent Koreman, is delighted with the new additions. He said: "I think that many people don’t know the artists that we’re announcing today. At the same time, visitors think the best part of Incubate is discovering new music and artists. In today’s announcements, a lot of exciting new music can be found. That’s why I hope people will start their journey of discovery already today, for instance by listening to the artists they don’t know yet at our website."
One of the most exciting additions to the Incubate lineup is Jasper Stadhouders’ International Improv Ensemble, but don’t just take our word for it. Koreman said of the group’s appearance at the festival: "In 2008 we had a beautiful project with the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, who performed six days in a row. That was a fantastic experience. This time we’re bringing some of the best jazz musicians to Tilburg led by a young local guitar virtuoso. Together they will perform 6 days in a row at jazz club Paradox during the festival. Every unique 75 minute set will be recorded and released in a special box set after the festival."
Early bird tickets for every event are still available from the festival’s website for €114.99. The festival has also opened the presale for day and weekend tickets, as well as opening up campsite tickets. The camp is located next to the city centre, walking distance from most festival venues.
