L.I.E.S. And Bunker At Incubate Festival

Legowelt, Ron Morelli, Rude 66, Unit Moebius and more announced for label showcases at the Dutch festival

Incubate festival have announced a string of new names for their 2014 edition (September 15-21, Tilburg, Netherlands) as part of two showcases from electronic labels L.I.E.S. and Bunker Records.

Taking place from September 19-20, Ron Morelli, Unit Moebius, Legowelt, Torn Hawk, Steve Summers, Jahiliyya Fields, Low Jack, Voiski, Rude 66, Schmerzlabor, Acid Mercenaries, Svengalisghost, Terekke, Beau Wanzer, Marcos Cabral, Orgue Electronique and Klankman will all be playing sets.

The pioneering Bunker Records was established in The Hague in the early 90s by Guy Tavares, who will be performing at Incubate under his Schmerzlabor alias and as a member of Unit Moebius. The first Bunker releases came from Unit Moebius and Rude 66, who established Bunker’s reputation as a home of dirt-crusted acid house, electro and industrial techno. Also featured are Orgue Electronique, who will be representing the housier end of the label’s output, and newer signings such as Klankman and Acid Mercenaries. The Bunker showcase also stars Danny Wolfers, aka Legowelt, another native of The Hague. Wolfers took inspiration from the gritty interpretations of US house he found in the output of Unit Moebius and Bunker, and some of his first releases came on the label in the early 2000s.

In recent years Legowelt has also released on Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. imprint, and the latter will spearhead the prolific New York label’s showcase at Incubate. Over the past few years Morelli has established L.I.E.S. as one of the most talked about and most revered labels in the world of underground electronic music, and, as with Legowelt, it’s not hard to hear the influence that Bunker has had upon the work of Morelli and other L.I.E.S. affiliated artists. Further highlights of the L.I.E.S. programme include a DJ set from Low Jack and a live show from Terekke, as well as the looped-guitar-led excursions of Torn Hawk and Steve Summer’s extended lo-fi house jams, with both performing live at the festival.

Alongside these showcases, on Saturday 20 September, Incubate will host another electronic event, running from midday to midnight and featuring Jeff Mills and Ben Sims. Head to their website for details, tickets and the full line-up.
