Purveyor of excellently dark electronic music, Imaginary Forces is to put out a new EP which is being funded by pre-orders.
According to IF, aka Anthoney J. Hart, the record, entitled Corner Crew EP, "is about being working class really". He continues: "The EP titles are deliberately designed to subvert people’s expectations and play on their own assumptions. The title track, ‘Corner Crew (Frozen Version)’, plays on the assumption of a group of rude boys hanging out on a street corner, and the ‘version’ is then assumed to be making a reference to dub versions, when in fact it is referring to cash in hand work, waiting on the corner for the van to pick you up, freezing in the morning". Elsewhere, the track ‘Whiteboys’ references a secret Irish agrarian organisation in 18th-century Ireland.
The EP, currently slated for an August release, will come in the shape of a limited edition hand-stamped white label 12" via Hart’s label, Sleep Codes, and the first 50 orders come with a free bonus CD-R. Pre-order it via the Sleep Codes Bandcamp page. Meanwhile, Hart’s made the EP available to stream in full ahead of release; do so above.
