If Wet… Experimental Night This Saturday

Worcestershire experimental event holding fundraiser this weekend; listen to new compilation below

If Wet… in the village hall is a monthly night, "part show and tell, part test bed, part salon", for experimental musicians and sound artists, taking place in Callow End Village Hall in Worcestershire. They’re about to come to the end of their first season of events, with the finale taking place this Saturday, November 30, with the excellent tuba doom duo Ore joining Sarah Angliss, Isle Of Everywhere and Nimzo-Indian on the bill. Proceeds from the night will go into funding next year’s run of events, as will sales of their newly-released compilation, which you can stream at the foot of the piece and get hold of through their Bandcamp, and head to If Wet…’s website for full details.

To tell us a bit more about the project, here’s Sam Underwood of MortonUnderwood instrument makers, who host the event: "If Wet… is a monthly afternoon of sonic exploration, in a village hall in rural Worcestershire. A sort of grand show and tell for musicians, sound artists and musical instrument makers; all in front of an attentive and engaged audience. David Morton [co-founder of MU] and myself basically got sick of the relentless blues covers nights on offer in rural areas and decided to stop moaning and introduce a bit of an antidote. A classic DIY response essentially. Highlights from Season #1 are almost too plentiful to list but they’d have to include wise words and great performances from the likes of Sarah Angliss. Also, the few local makers we have had visit regularly, such as Richard Windley who has only missed one If Wet… due to illness, have really made it for us. There have been so many really magical moments in the hall and people have been so generous throughout, which is pretty much vital when you are trying to run an event like ours in a village hall in the middle of bloody nowhere!"
