An event is to be held at Cafe Oto later this month in celebration of 35 years of the studio, mail order and distribution network ICR.
Taking place on September 30, the event will feature performances from those who played a crucial role within the history of the organisation. As well as performances from Michael Begg (Human Greed, Fovea Hex), Jonathan Coleclough, Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound, Current 93) and Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound, Monos), the evening will also present two special guests; Clodagh Simond and Paul Bradley (Monos, Twenty Hertz) .
Beginning its life in the early 80s as Integrated Circuit Records and Integrated Circuit Studio, ICR played a pivotal role within the British experimental music scene. It has now released over 80 albums to date, but in its earliest days would be releasing mostly tapes recorded in a bedroom. The scale of the company grew, as did the recording quality – slowly progressing to a four track then eight track etc. This event will celebrate the history and continued importance of ICR, which has developed a loyal cult following and reputation for releasing fiercely unconventional and experimental music.
