Former Can bassist Holger Czukay is reissuing a selection of songs from two of his albums, 1984’s Der Osten Ist Rot and 1987’s Rome Remains Rome, via Groenland Records on July 18. The release also features previously unheard remix versions and will be available as a double 10" vinyl, in triple gatefold with a poster, as well as digitally. The album features instrumental contributions from Can bandmate Jaki Liebezeit on drums, trumpet, keys and percussion. Legendary producer Conny Plank also plays synthesiser while experimental bassist and ex-PiL member Jah Wobble lays down his frequencies on Rome Remains Rome. Talking about the release, Czukay remembers: "Since Can withdrew themselves from the studio at the beginning of the 80s the time was free for a most creative period with exciting results…"
