Hey Colossus have shared details of a new album, alongside a new collaboration with Mark Lanegan called ‘The Mirror’.
It’s the first song to be unveiled from Dances/Curses which the band will release on Wrong Speed Records, the label of bassist Joe Thompson, in November. You can watch a lyric video for the new track above.
Dances/Curses follows on from the group’s last album, Four Bibles, which came out last year on Helm’s Alter label, as well as a number of records in recent years for labels such as Rocket Recordings and Riot Season. The new album will be available to pre-order via Wrong Speed’s Bandcamp page from tomorrow (September 4), to coincide with Bandcamp’s latest fee-waive day.
"It’s 100% time for all bands to take control of their shit," the group’s Joe Thompson says of the decision to release Dances/Curses on his own label. "All the tools are there to do it yourself. Back your own horse. It’s practical. It’s positive. There’s a chance things will never be the same, if change doesn’t happen now it never will."
In addition to the announcement of their new record, Hey Colossus have also set out plans for a trio of UK live shows next year, playing at Manchester’s White Hotel on March 19, The Crofters in Bristol on March 20, and London’s Lexington on April 3.
Wrong Speed will release Dances/Curses on November 6, 2020, with Learning Curve overseeing the album’s vinyl release in the US.
