LISTEN: Hexvessel – Woman Of Salem

New EP Iron Marsh due next month

Ace Finnish psychedelic folk collective Hexvessel have announced that they’ll be bringing out a new EP, Iron Marsh, on May 10 via Svart Records. Considering that their last album, No Holier Temple, was one of our albums of 2012, this is excellent news.

They’re preceding the EP with a cover of Yoko Ono’s ‘Woman Of Salem’, with guest vocals from Purson’s Rosie Cunningham, currently streaming over at the website of Roadburn Festival, where they’ll be playing later this month as part of their European tour (dates below) – listen here.

Speaking about the track, the band’s Mat McNerney says: "[It’s] in tribute to Ono, who is as remarkable as a producer/songwriter as she is an activist and artist. She used her creativity to awaken generations to the concept of world peace in an age where activism on environment and social issues was considered radical, extreme and dangerous. Her music is underrated genius, and her influence on John Lennon’s inspirational music is not regarded highly enough. Her art continues to influence Hexvessel, and this track is a tip of the hat to her."
