London-based newcomers Hejira’s debut single ‘Gypsy Of The Soul’ is set for a vinyl-only self-release on October 15 (artwork above) – we’ve got an exclusive first listen to the track below:
The track finds the band, comprised of Sam Beste, Rahel Debebe-Dessalegne, Alex Reeve and Alexis Nunez, blending organic percussion, lush orchestral textures and soothing vocal harmonies, forging a tenderly uplifting debut. It also provides a taster for the band’s first full-length album, expected in 2013, which will feature production work from boundary-challenging producer and musician Mathew Herbert.
The 7” single release will also feature a remix by Mercury-nominated experimental outfit The Invisible, whom Hejira will be touring with in October in support of the single. Here are the dates:
OCTOBER
Tue 2 – Boiler Room, London
Sat 13 – Studio 2, Liverpool
Sun 14 – Nice N’ Sleazy, Glasgow
Mon 15 – Soup Kitchen, Manchester
