Hurricane Sandy Benefit Comp: Loscil, Scanner & More

Headphone Commute puts together an expansive beast of a compilation to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy

Last week, Headphone Commute released a huge digital compilation of current ambient, electronic/experimental and modern classical music to benefit those affected by October’s Hurricane Sandy.

Entitled … And Darkness Came, the compilation features 87 tracks – many exclusive – from a wide variety of artists. It costs $10, runs for over 6 hours, and includes music from the likes of Room40 boss Lawrence English, excellent Kranky signed ambient/dub explorer Loscil, Max Richter, Dustin O’Halloran of A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Robin ‘Scanner’ Rimbaud and many more – an impressive list of names.

Proceeds from the sale of the compilation will be donated towards two charities – Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and The Humane Society.

You can stream the compilation via the embed below, and you can purchase a copy via Headphone Commute’s Bandcamp site by clicking here.

Say the compilation’s curators: "This colossal compilation has been curated by Headphone Commute to benefit all of those affected by Hurricane Sandy, the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, which has devastated portions of the Caribbean, Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States in late October 2012. 100% of all the proceeds generated from the sale of this album will be donated towards two charitable organizations: Doctors Without Borders and The Humane Society. The artists on the release have been hand-picked to showcase the world’s top talent in ambient, modern classical, and experimental music. The unprecedented selection features many unreleased pieces composed exclusively for the cause."
