1999 LP By Haruomi Hosono And Makoto Kubota To Be Reissued

'Road To Louisiana', originally released under the name Harry & Mac, was inspired by the music of New Orleans

A 1999 album by Haruomi Hosono and fellow Japanese artist Makoto Kubota is getting a first-time reissue this week.

Road To Louisiana, which Hosono and Kubota originally released under the collective name Harry & Mac, was the pair’s only collaborative effort together and took inspiration from 1970s New Orleans music. The reissue will see the album being made available on streaming platforms for the first time from June 9, with a special Record Store Day Japan 2021 limited edition vinyl version following on June 12.

The album features a number of renditions of songs from elsewhere in Hosono’s discography, as well as several Kubota-led tracks. Opening track ‘Night Shade’ was co-written by Hosono and Kubota especially for the record.

The reissue of Road To Louisiana follows on from a number of other re-releases of Hosono’s work, including four 1985 albums by the former Yellow Magic Orchestra man which were made available again in March.

Epic will release Road To Louisiana on June 12, 2021.
