Harold Budd's family have shared a short statement following his passing earlier this week

The family of Harold Budd have shared a statement with tQ following the composer’s death earlier this week, aged 84.

It confirms that Budd’s death was complications following a contraction of COVID-19.

The statement reads: "Harold Montgomery Budd, a resident of Pasadena, California, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at age 84, from complications arising from contraction of COVID-19. Harold is survived by his first wife, Paula, and their two sons, Matthew and Terrence, as well as his son, Hugo, from Harold’s second marriage to the late Ellen Wirth. Thank you to all of the friends and fans who have so wonderfully supported him through the years. We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time."
