This Friday, Where To Now? will release Raum, the first contribution to the label from Tokyo-based architect and sound designer H. Takahashi.
The album is made up of four extended minimalist pieces, with the likes of Hiroshi Yoshimura, Erik Satie, Brian Eno and Roedelius all name-checked as reference points. All of the music featured on the record is composed by Takahashi via his iPhone, allowing him to create constantly while on the go.
For Takahashi, working in this way "feels something like an invisible phenomenon taking over and mutating these constantly changing spaces into abstract sound, creating a brief pseudo space which expresses and highlights the features of the environment for a moment in time."
The works featured on the album were created across Takahashi’s home city of Tokyo, while on the move and going about his daily life. Raum is out this Friday (September 15) and can be pre-ordered directly from the label here.
