Glaswegian label Instructional Media are embarking on a new, two-way psych trip with a run of split LPs. The first in the Tunnel Channel series is a mind-meld of New York drone masters Guardian Alien and astral druids The Cosmic Dead. The former contribute the jittering, shard-like ‘Statues & Instruments’ and a hefty percussion workout, ‘Coming In The Dark’, drawing on the rhythmic prowess of the band’s Greg Fox, while the aptly-named ‘Drone Rivers’ from The Cosmic Dead is a deep swirl of free-floating electronic matter and propulsive bass and drums.
