Grouper, AKA Liz Harris, has a new album on the way.
Due out in October, Shade‘s nine tracks are said to span the last 15 years. Harris characterises the album as being "about respite, and the coast, poetically and lyrically," a press release explains. You can listen to lead cut ‘Unclean Mind’ above.
Parts of the album were recorded on California’s Mount Tamalpais during a self-made residency a number of years ago, while others formed even longer ago in Portland. The rest of the album was tracked during more recent sessions in Astoria. This is Harris’ first album as Grouper since 2018’s Grid Of Points.
Kranky will release Shade on October 22, 2021.
