DOWNLOAD: Grouper – Call Across Rooms

First taste of upcoming album Ruins

After announcing the release of her eighth studio album, Ruins, last month, Liz Harris, aka Grouper, has unveiled ‘Call Across Rooms’ and it can be streamed above.

The track sees Harris’ husky, affected vocals accompanied by little more than a piano and was, along with the rest of her upcoming album, captured on a field recording trip in Portugal in 2011. According to Vogue, Harris says: "The song is on one level very plain and literal, about a letter I wrote for someone I loved and could not get along with". Speaking last month about Ruins, she said: "I’m still surprised by what I wound up with. It was the first time I’d sat still for a few years; processed a lot of political anger and emotional garbage". Ruins is Harris’ first release since last year’s The Man Who Died In His Boat and is out, via Kranky, on October 31. She also plays Unsound Festival in Kraków on October 19.
