Autumn 2015 is turning out to be the season for books by female musicians, with memoirs by Chrissie Hynde and Carrie Brownstein both scheduled for release. It has been reported that model, actress and pioneering doyenne of disco Grace Jones is also throwing her hat into the ring with I’ll Never Write My Memoirs due out in late September. The cover can be seen above.
Since her early days modelling in Paris, Jones has written quite the legacy for herself. She’s roomed with Jerry Hall, been immortalised by Andy Warhol, fought alongside James Bond and Conan The Destroyer, and released a trio of iconoclastic albums which completely transformed disco.
In an announcement for the book, the ‘Slave To The Rhythm’ singer stated, "I wrote a song called ‘Art Groupie’. First line said ‘I’ll never write my memoirs’ – that was a long time ago. Since then, I thought, if I don’t do it, somebody else will."
I’ll Never Write My Memoirs arrives on the shelves September 29 courtesy of Gallery Books.
