Shanghai’s SVBKVLT imprint has been firing on all cylinders this year, having already notched up three excellent, boundary-pushing records from core artists such as Osheyack and Nahash, as well as label newcomer Seven Orbits.
Next up, Gooooose returns to the label with the follow-up to last year’s Rusted Silicon album, in the form of a full collaborative record with Japan’s DJ Scotch Egg. The record, titled JAC, was recorded when SVBKVLT flew DJ Scotch Egg from Berlin to China for a studio session with Gooooose just before the outbreak of COVID-19, having initially met the previous year in Uganda during Nyege Nyege Festival.
Premiering above from JAC is ‘Altered Destiny’, a 160 BPM roller made up of serene pads, choir samples and tranquil melodies that recall R Plus Seven-era Oneohtrix Point Never.
Elsewhere on JAC, there is a track with vocals from Ugandan MC Swordman Kitala, which were recorded by Scotch Egg during his residency in Uganda last year, as well as remixes from Slikback and TSVI & Seven Orbits feature on remix duty.
SVBKVLT will release JAC on August 28, 2020.
