Dorian Cox, onetime songwriter and guitarist in the Long Blondes, is back with a new project called Gold Top Baby, the first video for which you see above. Describing himself as "a man who died at 27 and came back", Cox comes across like the Stockport Alan Vega, Gold Top Baby is a sleazy and minimal affair, all smutty electronics that, as Cox puts it, "is the sound of Pulp’s "His N Hers" if it had been recorded in No Wave NYC with Suicide at the controls". Gold Top Baby was produced by Lee Mann and Dean Honer of the Moonlandingz, Eccentronic Research Council, Add N to X, International Teachers of Pop continuum. Gold Top Baby plays The Eagle Inn in Salford on Dec 19th before heading south in the New Year.
