Gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello have just announced their return, with sixth album Pura Vida Conspiracy on the way for July 22 via ATO Records/Casa Gogol Records. Have a listen to the first track to come off the record, ‘Malandrino’, below:
The album was recorded at Texas’ Sonic Ranch Studios with Andrew Scheps producing, and its title is a "Spanish slang phrase for ‘pure life’" apparently.
Says Eugene Hutz, the band’s frontman: "For me music is a way to explore human potential. And that’s my main interest in life – human potential. Everyone knows there’s something inside of us that we’re not using. How do we get it? How do we reach it? Every single person knows that there’s something and nobody knows what it is. So at one point I said to myself, I’m gonna get down and get it."
The band are about to embark on a mammoth tour of summer festivals, stopping by the UK’s Download in Donington Park on June 14.
