Godspeed You! Black Emperor have announced their first release in a decade. The influential Canadian post rock group are set to issue the Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! LP & 7" via Constellation on October 15.
The band "regrouped" in 2010 to play a small number of shows, including the curation of an ATP Nightmare Before Christmas festival in Minehead.
The album reportedly picks up again where they left off with Yanqui U.X.O. in 2002, and contains material which they started working on during the immediate aftermath of their last album.
A press statement by the adds: "Two twenty-minute slabs of epic instrumental rock music previously known to fans as ‘Albanian’ and ‘Gamelan’, now properly titled as ‘MLADIC’ and ‘WE DRIFT LIKE WORRIED FIRE’ respectively and two six-and-a-half minute drones (stitched into the album sequence on CD; cut separately on their own 7″ for the LP version)."
The band have also announced two live dates in London at the Kentish Town Forum on November 4 and 5.
