Glastonbury has been given the green light to sell 7000 more tickets for next year’s festival, which will mark its 50th anniversary.
As Resident Advisor reports, Mendip City Council passed a resolution during its most recent Licensing Board meeting to allow the increase. If Glastonbury takes up the opportunity, the 7000 extra tickets will be allocated to people who choose to take public transport to the festival.
The increase would mean that Glastonbury’s capacity will go up from last year’s 203,000 to 210,000. Glastonbury has not yet confirmed whether it will go ahead with the capacity increase but if it does, 142,000 tickets will be sold to the public while 5000 will be set aside for locals. The remaining 63,000 would be allocated to artists, crew and volunteers.
The festival will take place from June 24 – 28 next year.
