Glasgow School Of Art Fundraiser On Friday

Art School United taking place to help raise funds for finalists who lost work in last month's fire, with Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, S-Type and Franz Ferdinand's Paul Thomson on the bill

The Glasgow School of Art has announced a fundraising event, Art School United, for the Mackintosh Fire Fund, taking place at the Art School bar this Friday, June 6.

The fund was set up to help support students, who lost expensive equipment and whole careers’ worth of work after a fire broke at the school’s Charles Rennie Mackintosh building on May 23. Art School United will feature "four hours of cathartic hedonism" with alumni, friends and current students on the bill for the event. Appearances include Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson, who used to work as a nude model for the school and graphic designer, electronic musician and School of Art alumnus Konx-Om-Pax, along with Glaswegian house and techno collective Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, LuckyMe’s S-Type and Steev from Errors. The poster for the event (above) has been made by David Shrigley, another alumnus with musical affiliations.

Head to the Facebook event for full details – tickets are £5 and can be bought here and final year Fine Art students get in for free.
