The judging panel for the 2014 GIT Award has been announced, with Creation Records founder, now 359 Records head, Alan McGee joining the journalists and industry folk. Among the new additions are journalists and Quietus contributors Simon Price and Jude Rogers, taking their place next to tQ editor John Doran on the panel, alongside other journalists, including Matt Wilkinson of the NME, Popjustice’s Peter Robinson, Music Week‘s Tim Ingham and Craig G Pennington, editor of Liverpool music magazine Bido Lito!. The judges are completed by BBC 6 Music’s Camilla Pia, Xfm’s Mike Walsh, Radio City’s Claire Simonsen, Mike Deane, the founder and director of Liverpool Music Week, Steve Miller, founder of club night EVOL, Yaw Owusu, curator of Liverpool International Music Festival and Peter Guy, editor of the Getintothis blog and creator of the award. Says Guy: "This year’s panel once again includes a diverse collection of some of Merseyside’s key music industry players, however, we have increased those involved on a national scale to help push things even further. I’m delighted to once again include judges from music cornerstones as the NME, the Quietus and 6 Music while look forward to discussing the wealth of great new Merseyside music with a number of celebrated journalists and influential pop gurus."
