Girl Band has released a video for new track ‘Shoulderblades’, the first to be unveiled from their upcoming album, The Talkies.
‘Shoulderblades’ is a dissonant, threatening track with an unsettling momentum, and comes with an equally dark video directed by longtime collaborator Bob Gallagher. His music video for ‘Paul’, from their debut album Holding Hands with Jamie, was previously named the Best Irish Music Video at the Cork Film Festival.
"I think it’s a real testament to the creative spirit of the band that they encouraged me to go outside my comfort zone and attempt to make something with no props or set dressing or conventional narrative, and to try and articulate an idea with dance and movement," Gallagher said of the video.
The Talkies is produced by the band’s Daniel Fox and was recorded at the Ballintubbert House in Dublin. The band made use of the halls and corridors of the stately home to add a unique atmosphere to the album.
"We recorded all the drums twice: once on the landing and once in the cellar, and during production we could actually cut in between both these sounds," Fox said.
Girl Band will be embarking on a European and US tour later this year. Tickets will go on sale next week, but you can find the full list of dates here for now.
