The last we heard from Gemma Ray was ‘Motorbike’, her RSD collaboration with Suicide’s Alan Vega. Now she’s releasing a new album, her sixth: Milk For Your Motors is out on August 25, via Bronze Rat Records. It will number ‘Motorbike’, alongside the other track on the RSD 7", ‘Waving At Mirrors’, among its tracks, as well as a collaboration with Howe Gelb.
She’s preceded it with the track ‘Shake Baby Shake’, a volcano metaphor-packed, grandiose pop cut, which opens with lugubrious end of the pier organ and slack bass before swelling up and erupting (eh?) in a stirring orchestral crescendo. We’ve got a first look at Patrick McCarthy’s suitably lava-lathered video, above, while the track is available for download in exchange for an e-mail address below. Head to Ray’s website for details of her upcoming tour dates, including a UK headline run beginning at The Lexington in London on September 26.
