Gazelle Twin has announced details of her new album, entitled Pastoral.
Due out in September, it will be released on Elizabeth Bernholz’ own Anti-Ghost Moon Ray label having been premiered live earlier this month at Birmingham’s Supersonic festival. She will play further live shows in support of the album at Manchester’s Soup Kitchen on October 5 and at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts in Brighton on October 11.
The album’s story is said to be told through an array of multi-gender voices and sees Bernholz explore the idea that "there is horror in every idyll, and danger lurking beyond the ‘quaint’".
’90s house and rave are name-checked as touch points while the harpsichord and recorder also feature alongside Bernholz’ usual use of electronics and sampling. The single, ‘Hobby Horse’, which you can check out above, was the first track to be unveiled from the album last month.
Pastoral is out on September 21 and can be pre-ordered here.
