Gazelle Twin Details New Album, ‘Black Dog’

It marks the UK artist's debut full-length release for Invada Records

Gazelle Twin, AKA Elizabeth Bernholz, has shared details of her first solo studio album in five years, Black Dog.

Set for release in October, the 11-track record marks the artist’s debut full-length release with new label home, Invada Records. Where past releases, such as 2018’s Pastoral and 2014’s Unflesh, have seen Bernholz assume the role of masked characters, she says she is “not as removed this time” from her own persona.

To mark the announcement of Black Dog, Bernholz has shared the title track. You can watch a video for the song below.

The track and album take their name from a recurring figure from Bernholz’s childhood, which she described in a statement as “a small black dog’s shadow, blacker than black, moving by my bedside – not terrifying but lingering. Looping. Tailing. Restless. Keeping me awake. Now as an adult, I experience a different kind of insomnia in the pitch dark, another kind of black dog paces at night.”

Invada will release Black Dog on October 27, 2023.
