WATCH: GAIKA-Directed Short Film

Film is designed to accompany his recent EP released via Warp

GAIKA has released a short film, Another Hole In Babylon, designed to accompany his new EP Spaghetto. The film stars Zawe Ashton and runs through themes found on the EP itself, including love, tension and political strife. The film is available to watch above.

With these themes in mind, GAIKA says that the film was made in order to demonstrate how “feelings aren’t abstract from forces. If you take an idea, abstract it, reality can and will show through.” and that it is “also about my parents and experiences that they witnessed… it’s about the world that we live in at the moment too as much as it is about people in a Knightsbridge basement in 1975.”

Another Hole In Babylon was commissioned by Warp for a series of short films for Channel 4’s Random Acts.

The EP Spaghetto, which combines dancehall and post-industrial points of reference, was made available this autumn and is GAIKA’s debut release on Warp. GAIKA is set to play Corsica Studios, London on 30th November. Tickets are available here.
