Fury As Glitter Strikes Gold

Anger as shamed star rakes in cash from ad placement

Even repellent kiddie fiddlers have to earn their crust, and Gary Glitter’s sync rights people have been busy, landing a whopping £100,000 payment for the use of one of his songs in an advert.

According to reports in today’s press, computer manufacturers Hewlett Packard are using the track ‘Do You Wanna Touch Me’ in an advertisement for a touch screen machine. What next, art supplies shops using ‘Would You Like To See My Etchings’? Pedigree Chum and ‘How About You Stroke My Puppy’? Etc.

However, the outrage is perhaps slightly overblown – it won’t be Glitter’s original that will be used, but Joan Jett’s 1982 cover version.

However, a spokesperson for Child Abuse-Watch.net found time to say, "It shows a distinct lack of sensitivity."
